Were the Crusades really unprovoked European aggression? Islam Historian Raymond Ibrahim says that the First Crusade was a belated response to centuries of Islamic jihad, conquest, and violence against Christians in the East. He argues that Christian atrocities were condemned by the Church, while Islamic atrocities were sanctioned by Islamic teaching.
